Posted: 2026-09-10 12:01 | First I want to say that my experience on LCWO has been great, it's been the best way to learn to hear CW I've found so far.
I will say though that as I progress through the lessons, I have found that the higher levels (30 and up) become more difficult. I think it's due to a few factors: 1. Since the distribution of characters in the drill is evenly random (I think), I don't see characters that I do poorly on very often. 2. Inversely, I see characters that I do well on too often, and so concentration that could be spent on learning new characters is spent drilling ones I already know well. 3. Sometimes, because the characters are evenly randomly selected, you never see the new character you're working on and you pass the lesson anyway. I've been playing around with a modification of the LCWO lessons where it drills characters I do poorly on more often than the ones I do well on. It only samples the last 1000 characters heard so it doesn't get stuck with the same biases, the memory can be manually reset too. I do them now alongside my regular LCWO lessons and I think it helps a lot. Thanks for reading. |

You could try the MorseMachine with your custom characters. Oh I didn't think to try the MorseMachine, I figured that was meant for after the lessons. Thanks. |
