Do I need a key of some kind to use lcwo.net? If so, what is a good beginner kit?

Thanks and 73

Good morning Chris....My advice is, no not at this point do you need a key. Learn the 40 characters first. I would also suggest, since you are just starting out, follow this advice as well detailed in the course introduction. https://lcwo.net/courseintro

Best of luck on your journey to learn CW, and if you have any other questions please feel free to post....

I endorse Balvenie's post above, but don't leave staring sending practice too long after learning to copy all the characters.

The aim after all is to get on the air and you will need to send to do that.

Practicing sending has helped my copying skills too.

BTW I use a paddle and a keyer. That way at least inter element spacing is taken care of, leaving me to concentrate on inter character and inter word spacing.

Peter, the problem is that there are literally no online methods that teach sending, and you can see that by the amount of terrible code heard on air.

Back in the day, there were radio clubs with experienced hams teaching you code. Radio clubs nowadays are just money making machines.
