Glad to hear that Saudi Arabia is allowing more amateur radio and even a ham satellite! When I was working there in 1981-82, on Project "Peace Hawk" with the RSAF in Taif, no foreigners were allowed to operate despite many appeals to the Saudi PTT. The only station on the air operated by Americans was HZ1AB but it was too far away to commute! I corresponded with HZ1HZ (sk) in Jeddah, but never had the opportunity to see his shack.
