Rather than insisting upon the correct number of characters to be entered in the text box and then show the result, along with scoring, you could implement an option to just see the results. This would be great for offline practice where one downloads the practice file.

No implementation necessary, what you want is already possible. I'll just copy my answer from that thread.

Without entering anything in the textbox, you can just click "Check Result" twice and you will be shown what was sent.


After the first click you will see this warning:

Warning: The number of groups sent was different from the text which you entered. [...]
After editing your text, just press the submit button again.

Then just click the button again. Of course you will get a result of 100% errors, but you can see what was sent nonetheless.

I like this idea. Having a results-only option would make offline practice much easier, especially when using downloaded practice files. It would also let users focus on checking their answers without being tied to the required character count or score.
