Now that I have became a little more efficient I have moved on to word training. I have found that I do well unless there is some distraction. Examples: 2 meters repeater identifies, loud truck, wife come into the shack to ask me something. At that point I miss several letters, and the rest is bad. Anyone have this problem?

Hello, I'm a beginner and I face the same problem. Obviously those who have been practicing morse longer are more equipped to answer your question, but just wanted to reply anyways. Keep at it and try not to stress too much. I think relaxing and resisting the urge to constantly repeat the question helps. Try picking up from wherever you are in the question and guess the other letters, until it gets better (that's what I do) slow progress, but still fun and rewarding.

Take a page from the old commercial morse pros. The key is practice, and focus. You can try headphones to block out background noise.
