Hi all im new.

Curious would it be wise to learn to receive and Send or should i just stick to Copying first?

Hi James,

in my opinion, sending practice can help the process of learning CW significantly.

Whether you use a straight key or paddles shouldn't matter much. Some people say you will only get the rhythm right if you start with a straight key, but I don't share that opinion.

But in any case, it's important that you have some way of having your own sending graded in one way or another. This would ideally be done by an experienced CW operator (we used to practice the code with a practice oscillator over 2m FM that way here), or by some software like CWGet.
