Is there a way to study common words using the Koch method? In other words, start with only two words until good accuracy and then introduce another word, and then another after good accuracy etc?

Put the first 10 or 25 in an MP3 made with ebook2cw, written by DJ1YFK, Wide word spaced standard letter space. Repeat each word 4 or 5 times. Take a speed of 20 wpm. Reading while listening is permitted. Try to decode them when not reading, due to repetition you have the chance of decoding piece wise. When you can decode them the first time, make a new file all words not repeated but random mixed.

JustLearnMorseCode a program you can find on Internet can do that for you.

Report results please.

Thanks for the tips. JustLearnMorseCode does exactly what I wanted. I'm at four words right now: the, of, and, to. It seems that it can go up to 1000 words.

Don't forget to include common abbreviations and Q-codes used in morse QSOs; ones like these, for instance:

AGN
ANT
CPI
CU
DE
ES
FB
FER
GD
GM
OK
OM
QRM
QRN
QSB
QSL
QSO
QTH
RST
SIG
TKS
UR

tks lzep fer addition.

Andrew do not try to recognise the words as one sound. Just read the letters and glue them together in your mind. Remember learning reading in primary school.

THanks for the tips to both of you. The justlearnmorsecode program also includes abbreviations and q-codes but I have those off for now. Just using the default common words that are built-in and I'm up to 14 words. It's actually a bit easier than doing the lcwo koch course. Wonder if I'll get to 38 words before I manage to pass level 38 of the koch course of this website.
