As an athlete playing sports in college, I always made it a point to do my research on the competition and my closest competitor. As you can see, I have carried that over into radio contesting and now Rufz and LCWO.

Here on LCWO, there is a guy one notch above me, his call is Mike Zero Radio Oscar Nancy. Pardon me, I am a phone guy so still in the habit of giving phonetics. He is ranked one above and is at 50wpm. I am so determined to get to 50wpm fast so I can take his spot but getting to 50wpm is not coming easily for me and I am hot on his heals!

Now to the data below. Up on Rufz I am using the same strategy by findng a guy that is close to me and has now leaped frogged above me. It is NG7M.

I did my research up on Rufz and am hot on his heals. I don't know the guy but unbeknowns to him, he is my motivation. Once I leave him in the dust, I will set my sights on another guy and will be on strong persuit of him.

I haven't operated CW for 5 years... found the windows version

of Rufz and gave it a try again... I think I'll work on my score

and see if I get a better ranking! Great software!

On or about that date in February, Digibeet told me about Rufz so I gave it a try and cannot thank him enough as it is a part of my daily life now and fills me with enjoyment.

Well todays the 24th of May and the new Rufz Toplist was posted and I have leapfrogged ahead of NG7M but not by much. He is coming on strong so I must continue to work hard and cover some more ground.

It's interesting to say the least, his cpm is almost 6wpm faster than mine but yet me score is higher than his. I am just guessing but what this tells me is it appears that I copied more correct calls than he did even though his max speed was higher.

There are many unknowns but one unknown I would like to know is what his starting cpm was compared to mine. I believe I set my at either 171cpm or 176cpm.

It's the 31st of May and the new RufzXP Toplist is out and what I wanted to happen is exactly what happened.

If I wasn't able to make up some ground, I wanted the competitor (NG7M) that I have set my eyes on to leap-frog above me so that I can be pushed and guess what, he did.

He is just above. I could publish the results here but I think it is best that if you all are curious, to go to the RufzXP site and see for yourself.

Speaking for myself (I SEE A MAJOR PROBLEM). I just noticed that I must be doing something wrong. I have a current 222CPM or 44.4wpm. I do have a score of just under 10k in the past on my computer where I copied 273CPM or 54.6wpm and I have copied higher here on LCWO so it's just time that I will put it all together.

Here's what is real interesting. There are (0) guys in my age group above me with a lower CPM. They all have a higher CPM and NG7M is at 250CPM; I'm at 222CPM. There are 66 guys below me with a lower score and a higher CPM than me. Did you hear that: 66 Guys!

I have got to figure out what in the heck I am doing wrong. I am way better than this.

By the way, I am having withdrawals as I am on a 2 Day Rest Period to rest and will hit it real hard again shortly.

My competitor, NG7M, appears to have really picked up some speed and is sitting at 273CPM. I remember just a week ago he had put up a new high speed of 250CPM. He is on the move, simply amazing!

I have been working harder than ever and seem to lost ground. Am I frustrated? I would be not telling the truth if I said I wasn't. Am I in a little bit of a funk? Yes, definitely. Do I intend to keep working and turn it around? Yup.

There's nothing magical about it, everyone has their own way of getting better and learning the best amount of daily practice without not over doing it I think is very critical. I have a tendancy to over do things and push way too hard but in time I will learn.

Welp it appears I have leap-frogged above my competition, NG7M. I have again a lower CPM than he has. I am in the #139 spot with 18,773-257CPM and he is just below ranked #145 with 18,454-273CPM.

No time for me to sit back and rest because I can feel him breathing down my neck. Let's see what Monday has in store for us.

I hope he jumps above me so that I can work hard to catch him again and push ahead.

BTW, I wrote him an email to see if he wanted to share ideas; no response. I take that as a big fat "NO". That type of stuff is what I thrive on; it gives me so much determination.
