If you are the real deal, I'm glad you are back on this cool site and I am getting faster but it's always an uphill battle.

A short visit here.
I realised that the HST training could not admit further members without my consent as group owner, so I would give you my userID and password, but I see you have opened your own private group. Very good!
Keep going, you are now not advancing very fast but you will make your plans reality, I know that for sure. You are the type of a winner.
Try to exercise with words also, the Zen book of the Italian guy that I adviced to read in january or so, tells of a guy in the RUFZXP list that can't copy normal text anymore, because he is looking for callsigns.
Fabian Kurz, is also exercising words and plain text, look in the high scores.
You have troubles with the Dutch gadget designer pa0vw I understand, try to repair that, it is a pretty old but very technical man with excellent brains.
For that reason I contacted him in the past and he solved a problem for me, very efficient and fast.
Look at his scores and his graphs on this webside, he took my advice and is in the never hidden part of toplists here.
Pretty busy here graig, no time for the hobby left over coming period.
Keep going, best wishes

You have given me enough info to make a good determination that you are who you say you are. I have and will re-read your post as it again is loaded full of good stuff.
I will ask Whiskey Victor if he would like to join and understand that even though I thought him to be harsh on me; he is just trying to help me and push me to practice the proper way.
I understand you cannot check in often and I fully understand, I am fine with that. Whenever I need info, I go back through your posts that I saved and am amazed at how much good stuff I still obatin to proceed ahead.
Since you made me aware of Rufz in February, I have been spending more of my time doing attempts there but LCWO is still a big part of my training.
I want to say one last thing before I go. Something happened yesterday while I was driving to California on business. I was listening to cw at 60wpm for about an hour getting a full call here and there and all of a sudden there was a pop in my ear kind of like happens when in flight changing altitudes. Right after that occured, I was for about 10 minutes able to copy solid every call. It's like something clicked and changed. It was so cool!
There are so many questions that I have and noticed that when I combed through every Rufz Monthly Archive and noticed initially that guys were giving hints about stuff but then it went away and nobody giving any little tips. It is unlike the Topband Reflector that I belong to. I fully understand now though that guys are afraid to help anyone out because they will pass them up on the Toplist...
...unlike guys like Fabian that offer knowledge when asked a question. He basically says: here you go, come and get me! Catch me if you can!!!
I have so much respect for guys like that.
Take it easy,

Well I am taking your advice and today on this 22nd day of May, 2010; I started training in Words.
Since I have no idea what I am doing, I picked a language to copy other than English so that it prevents me to guess at words that I am familair with. Just started doing American Proverbs. (Never say Never)
So I picked Italian since I always wanted to learn Italian but never took the effort to take the first step.
I am terrible but the good point is there is only one direction from here and it is UP!
Here is what I am noticing which I think is good and I will now go to Callsign Training to see if it has confused me in any way even though it is evening here and I am tired. The real test will be when I first awake in the morning after a good night's rest.
(1) I am fighting the urge to keep numbers out of the copy since I know these are just words being sent to me.
(2) There is no guessing going on since I don't know what letter is coming next.
(3) I can tell that it will help me because I am having to copy behind and remember what I just heard. COPYING BEHIND IS GOOD :-)
(4) Lastly, I find new energy in myself because now there is a new task at hand that I must conquer.
Tnx for everything and by the way, I just received a new club call (NU2E) for me to use in cw contest's as my AH8DX is terrible and now being in the states I have to sign /W7 and that is even worse. I know that Fabian operates cw tests, so I would be stupid to not try some also. I, therefore, have chosen next weekends WPX CW test and will probably do a single band 20 meters with my new NU2E call. I picked 20 mtrs because propagation up here in the PNW is terrible on the bands.

Well I did a couple runs of Callsigns and didn't delete or back arrow any and I think I am tired is why I didn't do well. I'm going to bed for a good night's rest.
By the way, I know I can copy around 50wpm plus because I do it every day but it just doesn't happen when I sit down to do this stuff. I get too stressed out and am trying to learn how to relax.
I don't know if you still do Rufz Callsign runs but I try to do 1000 calls a day without stopping a run just because I don't get a good start. That's 20 attempts per day. Here is todays runs that I keep track of in a notepad. I do these at different times during the day when I have some time. Maybe you can analyze it:
I have hit in excess of 17k for the second time in my life.
16,708-229-176
17,321-243-176
14,629-222-171

15,512-216-176

Tired, going to get some zzzzzzzzzz

I awoke this morning and did a few Rufz runs. A little bit of an off day for me though but will try later throughout the day.
I did some Word runs up here in Italian and am getting better. I am still making corrections when a number is copied (of course there are no numbers).
I just did a run in English for the first time, just to prove my point. I found myself going back and making corrections before I hit the Enter key. In some cases my fingers were too fast at hitting the Enter key as I made easy mistakes because I knew the words. (A NEW HIGH OF COURSE FOR ME) but I don't like taking the easy way out.
I think it is best that I go back and do Italian so that I will not be guessing. Looking back at my attempts, I can tell when I get in a rhythm and love the feeling but then think about it too much and it goes away.
The nice thing about doing this stuff is the back pain I have goes away momentarily while I do my runs because I concentrate on the task at hand. Way COOL!

Actually, a BIG thanks to you for introducing me to Words. I read through the Zen book and found the chapter that talks about the Italian guy that couldn't copy normal words without putting numbers in there.
You caught me just in time. I noticed that I was doing that when I was on the air copying cw and would give up as I didn't want it to confuse my callsign copy so I was scared to get involved in any words because I like callsign copy only.
Now that you have introduced me to Words, I have also explored other ares now here on LCWO and I hope that it all helps me out with callsign copy. I started doing QTC's the other night. I don't even know what a QTC is but I like copying them.
Just today, I took a stab at letters and figures. I should ask the general forum what to do when I get out of sink or rhythm in copying letters and numbers and get way behind. Do I just hit any key?
I think you realized that I had too much time on my hands because of the nonsense I was causing on the general forum so again, A BIG thanks to you for saving me once again.
Take care es Peace,
Craig, AH8DX
