Hello Everyone. I have a new goal to learn CW this year. I plan on practicing 15 min a day using this site and so far I am up to lesson 7. I did know 5 wpm 25yrs ago when I got my General but its a long lost skill. My question is this, when do I practice sending? Should I wait until I learn to receive all characters or should I practice sending as I learn to receive? I plan on using a iambic key -I already have a Bencher. My plan was to learn to receive quite well first but I don't really know if that's the proper method?

Mike I waited until I learned the 40 characters before I began sending. I concentrated on learning the cadence, sound of each before attempting to send. For me this worked very well. Best of luck on your CW journey....

Thanks. That was my plan as well.

I waited until I got my 40 characters learned, increased the speed a little, played with the Morse Machine and the Plain text training. Then I started practicing sending (on the experimental morse key here on the site). I'm really glad I did it that way.
