Hello all,

I'm up to lesson 27 and it is starting to get a bit monotonous, so I started using word training like I should have been all along. Anyway, I want to use word training for head copy but I'm having some difficulty doing that because after about 20 words per minute, I can't head copy anymore and I then either need to use the keyboard to keep up or I need to get some words wrong in order to get the speed back down to a manageable level. What I was wondering, though, is this: Is there a way to make the speed only increase every other word or not increase at all? Or should I just get words wrong and force myself to learn to head copy at a faster speed?

73, and thanks in advance,
Joseph

In Word training you can set many of the word parameters such as putting a check in the box for setting a fixed speed. I do not know of anyway to set that the word increased only every other word. Getting words wrong is part of the process of getting to instantly recognizing characters, but I find speeding up to the uncomfortable and slowing down is helpful, and , not often, but when I hit a wall or things just are not clicking I will take a day off and when I return things seem to straigten out and my comphrehension increases. This training can get monotonous and it is a good idea to mix it up, and do not over train say 15-20 minutes a day of good focused study. If this makes you feel any better it took me 1 year 10 months to successfully get through 40 lessons at 90% at 20x15 but your hard work will pay off. But have fun, their is no race to learn but be consistant and don't give up. I hope you find this helpful....

You could try using RufZxp (download is free).

Apart from call-signs, under the "settings" option, you can select letters, numbers or both and you can opt for fixed or incremental speed.

No words, sorry, but close enough.

Alternatively, purchase a Morserino-32: it will enable you to train both receiving and sending words,cw abbreviations, etc with a paddle (or a straight key) at fixed speed.

Best little training gadget I ever got!

Thanks Frank, I totally missed the fixed speed button. But I believe you are right, getting things wrong is part of learning, no matter what you are trying to learn.

Thanks, also, to you, Piotr, I'll give RufZxp a try!
