I've created a private user group for my friend and I to use. How do I invite him to the group?

Ask your friend to visit the user group page (https://lcwo.net/usergroups/386). Since he is not yet a member, he will not be allowed to see the user group, but he can request access. Once he has done this, you should see a request on the groups page which you can accept or deny.
