I'm having problems with using the levenshtein distance to measure copy accuracy. The metric apparently assumes an ACCURATE count of the number of codegroups or words. Adding or subtracting a single space causes an off-by-one error which grossly exaggerates the number of errors. This is particularly a problem when I'm not using 5 character code groups and having variable length groups.

I suggest that a space should be considered just another character which can be correct or incorrect.

Thoughts?
