Hello!

I just started learning CW and I have a question about group length. Is it better to have a random group length or a fixed one for ease of learning? I don't want to hurt myself in the long run by using the wrong group length. I've found a fixed length of 3 is easy but a random group is more challenging overall. I am currently using a 20/5 speed and it seems to work quite well at recognizing the sounds. In your opinion, what is the best group length for learning?

20/5 is OK

It is very important to reconize word spaces.

so use fixed length groups of 5 characters as an aid.

When you pass lesson 15 your load increases, because you have more and more characters to select from. Above that new characters are less exercised in a fixed lesson length.

So above that lesson exercise also fixed custom codegroups, containing only the 5 or 6 last learned characters.

Many thanks, very good tip. I grounded at lesson 38, due to ,/?.= b6 h5 v4 decoding problems with the required speed.

Followed your advice, and right now I broke the barrier and arrived at the starting of lesson 40 speed 20/10
