我学习莫尔斯电码是为了挑战自己。还有是最传统的无线沟通方法。用QRPCW比SSB有效的。技术条件比较小。

我学会了CW,以通过火腿无线电执照.
它是没有一见钟情.
但现在我只用 CW.

Why not?

In a world of cell phones and global, instant communications for all, CW is, for me, a rewarding way to reach into the past.

Just for fun mostly.
只為了樂趣主要

The learning process to become proficient is fascinating and challenging. Also with the current solar cycle, CW is one of the best ways to make contacts. Must be good to keep the mind sharp because it takes a deep commitment to learn.

Any brain is better than any computer morse reader. It can read a hissing signal with QRM better than any reader can. Readers can only decode computer generated code with a good clear signal.

- First mode transmision when Radio start
- Better signals with poor propagation conditions
- Fun with a new mode.
- Find new ones Dxcc´s
- Enjoy during my dxpeditions
- Learn a new lenguage.
- etc

I am applying to my license and CW is no longer necessary. Actually not even passing exams is necessary for me (academic degree exemption). Surprisingly the removal of a (earlier perceived) obstacle makes it today for me intriguing.

I am fascinated by the concept of "sequence learning and discrimination" by the brain. We ignore the "code" nerve cell uses to transfer information but it is kind of digital (!) as in CW.

I played a post-apocalyptic videogame where you hear some signal in morse code. It was funny to try to decrypt it. Then I thought it could be cool to experiment the synesthesia of reading with the hearing. So I began to learn morsecode !

Morse code is the only digital mode i know, which can be coded and decoded by human brain. Like some other digital modes it only needs a narrow bandwidth and therefore with much less power it is possible to work a continent. Also homebrewed transceivers are easy to build with less parts.

I've just build a pixie cw tranceiver for 40m. Only needs a battery to work.

To activate area sota's and just do some qrp from some mountains. Also just to join in more fun of amateur radio.

Posted: 2016-12-21 12:16
I want to learn this because i think it is a nice skill to master.

Posted: 2016-12-26 16:29
It is a dying art. And what John said.

Posted: 2016-12-30 19:23
It's a lifelong skill to be proficient and have fun at.

Because an amateur radio that does not know cw, is half amateur radio :-) Happy New Year

because i like it ,so....

I am in my early sixties and all thru the years I loved watching the TV westerns and have always been fascinated with the telegraphers that are sometimes seen. I just decided to give it a try and although I am just getting started.
I agree with one other member who mentioned it work your brain and stay sharp
