When I select 1 minute for a Figures run in Code Groups at 63 WPM, the player indicates the length of the run is 1:45 - 1:50. Why? 73, Barry |

Now I wonder which way should be taken: 1) Make it 63wpm real characters, not PARIS, i.e. fit all the 63 groups into one minute. That would result in a PARIS speed of over 100wpm for 63wpm real. This is how it's done at the HST championships since 2005 or so. 2) Leave the PARIS speed at 63wpm, but only generate about 35 groups or so, which results in more or less one minute of code. I tend to do the second version; both require just a very little math to calculate, and I guess rounding to a full group, resulting in a few seconds variation is acceptable. Nice results from you in the code group training, by the way! This is one of the things I have always wanted to practice a little harder, but never really got around to do it. Maybe for the next HST in Bulgaria! 73, Fabian |

Speaking of HST, I would like to see the speeds listed in HST method, too, so I can compare my practice with recent HST results. I am confused how they calculate it. Hope to see you in LZ next year! |
