Just tried the German umlaut Ö.

In Code groups when typing in lower case I always get errors although I correctly typed ö.

CAPS Lock fixes this but creates other issues with commas etc.

Yep, this is a bug and will be fixed; I'll probably (finally!) get to do a lot of work on LCWO done this weekend. QRL keeping me pretty busy during the weeks now :)

P.S.: Just starting to learn 10-finger typing with CW (set characters with code groups custom mode according toktouch lessons) to break my current "speed barrier" caused by 2-finger typing. ö was essential (Grundstellung..)
