When I set the duration of each test at 4 minutes (18cpm, 3wpm), the test runs for a little over two minutes according to the on-screen timer.
Is there a problem with the program, or is it my computer that is at fault?

Hi Ray,

the duration is only (relatively) precise when the effective speed is the same as the character speed. The bigger the difference, the less precise it is. The calculation of those 4 minutes considers the length of all characters to be at 3wpm, while in reality only the pauses are at 3wpm.

Other variations are due to random selection of the letters, which may (or may not) favor longer letters than average, when only a few groups are sent.
