Tallennettu: 2009-05-23 01:10 | Happy birthday, LCWO! It's exactly one year ago today that this site, LCWO.net went online!
What started out as a small project to kill some time (the good side of procrastination!) and explore new web technologies, quickly grew to a lively community of Morse enthusiasts from all over the world. LCWO now has over 9000 registered users from all continents, who are enjoying the LCWO experience in currently 19 different languages. In this last year, about 250,000 attempts have been finished on this site, in the different practice categories, with the Koch method course being the most popular by far (150,000). At this point, it's time to say a big thank you to everyone who helped to make all this happen: First of all, to the translators who put in hours of work to make this website available in so many different languages. Almost half of the users are using a different language than English on LCWO. When I started this website, I didn't even think multi-language capabilities were necessary; it turned out to be one of the most important things in the end. Thanks again to all the translators, who are listed on the "About" page. Secondly, many thanks to all the users who contributed to the development of LCWO by their comments, critics, bug reports and suggestions. It's always great to get feedback, and there was certainly not a lack of it over the last year! Last but not least, thanks to everyone who helped to spread the word about this site. LCWO has been featured in numerous ham radio magazines all over the world, was the subject of many forum discussions, blog posts and there are more websites linking to lcwo.net than I'd ever dream of. This and all the word-of-mouth advertising were substantial for the amazing growth of LCWO. So much about the past. For the future, you can look forward to numerous new features and small enhancements on LCWO. This will be a busy summer! Thanks again everyone for a fantastic year, and I am looking forward for many more to come! 73, Fabian DJ1YFK Founder of LCWO.net |

Tallennettu: 2009-05-24 00:28 | I learned code to get my General class license but have since forgotten it. After looking at the linux morse tutor programs available, I was very disappointed. I am VERY glad I stumbled upon this site. THANK YOU!

Tallennettu: 2009-05-24 13:31 | k8mmg, why don't you use qrq?
|
|
Tallennettu: 2009-05-24 15:21 | because per their website:
"It's not intended for learning telegraphy (check out LCWO or have a look at radio.linux.org.au for CW learning software), but to improve the ability to copy callsigns at high speeds, as needed for example for Contesting." |
|
Tallennettu: 2009-05-25 09:30 | at linux you can also install 'morse' package. it works like LCWO with following keys:
morse -f 800 -C 'ABCDEF' -w 35 -R 2 -n 5 -r it will generate random groups (5 characters per group) from specified list at 800 Hz and 35 WPM for 2 minutes. there're many more possibilties at 'morse', use 'man morse'. |
