Was wondering whether there is any V/U equipment on the market with CW capability. I know CW is not common at all on V/U but why not give it a go? I think it is a great backup as an emergency option too when for example the conditions get tough or when the coverage for voice communication is poor. Though I've never heard of any CW transmission on V/U in my country (Greece).

Yes you can! Often used in the side band (USB) portion of the band. Go listen.. you'll be amazed how often it's heard. CW is often used in weak signal situations not only on HF but up to the Ghz! (think moon bounce etc)

Use MCW on FM - a sinewave audio oscillator works a treat, even through repeaters, but get repeater manager's permission first. Do not use a squarewave from IC 555 which not only sounds awful but can produce unpredictable results. MCW works a treat, only if it is possible to raise sufficient enthusiasm.
