My wife has tinnitus and it produces a ringing in the ears. What would be the best speed, and tone for some one with these problems?

I've tried several different methods. I suppose starting slow and then slowly increasing the speed might help. She has quite a hard time in distinguishing between the dits and the dahs.

I will see how she does with 5wpm. Just hoping some one out there has the same problem and can help. She does want to learn.

Hello, pretty late reply, not sure if this helps but you can experiment with different tones under the 'Change CW settings' and go with something softer/more comfortable. Personally I would suggest learning at a speed higher than 5wpm. Maybe the speed at which she wants to hear morse, but you can definitely increase the effective speed. (Learning at 5wpm could cause trouble with instant recognition) however I am a beginner so you don't have to take my advice.
